Ray Bonis graduated from VCU in 1988 with a B.A. in Mass Communications and is pursuing a graduate degree in History. He has worked for VCU Libraries since 1989. Bonis has published articles on Richmond and Virginia history and is the co-author of Virginia Commonwealth University (2006) and Greetings from Richmond (2009), an illustrated architectural history of Richmond using pre-1930s postcards of the city. His blog, The Shockoe Examiner, focuses on Richmond history. His other major interest is exploring the history of blues and rock music.
