A new booklet on copyright issues for colleges and universities is now available at no charge -- Campus Copyright Rights and Responsibilities: A Basic Guide to Policy Considerations (PDF format).
The booklet has been prepared by the Association of American Publishers, the Association of American Universities, the Association of American University Presses, and the Association of Research Libraries.
In a press release, the Association of Research Libraries says it "views the booklet as a consensus document and, as such, it is reflective of compromise. It is descriptive, not prescriptive, of the copyright law and it aims to identify and explain the areas where there is disagreement among the parties on certain applications. The booklet does not propose specific policies, but rather encourages academic institutions to review their existing policies and provides information to facilitate that review."
