Those of you who have used the Cochrane Library lately may have noticed that it looks a bit different.  On the 15th of September the interface changed in order to improve the functionality of the database when it comes to trying to find what you need.  Some of the new features include:

        • Auto-suggest features within both basic and MeSH search functionsThumbnail image for Cochrane.jpg
        • Updated display of search results and filtering options
        • Ability to view search terms and results on the same page
        • Ability to insert lines and add one search to one another
        • Improved MeSH look-up feature
        • Hover-over Tool Tips giving a brief explanation of the functions

Thumbnail image for AACN Logo.jpgThe American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) has developed a new online clinical practice resource called AACN PEARL.  PEARL stands for Practice, Evidence, Application, Resources and Leadership and focuses on the ABCDE bundle and prevention of complications in mechanically ventilated patients.  The intention of this new tool is to share new information and help to implement new initiatives into patient care. 

The content is divided into five sections by topic, each with its own Web page and corresponding materials. The sections are:

·         Awakening and Breathing Coordination (ABC)

·         Delirium Assessment and Management (D)

·         Early Exercise and Progressive Mobility (E)

·         Implementation Roadmap and Tools

·         Communication Tools and Resources

063418-green-grunge-clipart-icon-people-things-people-student-study.pngTompkins-McCaw Library is recruiting graduate and professional students in the health sciences to be part of the TML Graduate Advisory Committee.  The purpose of this committee is to provide insights about library services and how things could be improved.  This is the second year for the committee and last year that was not a representative from the VCU School of Nursing.   This committee meets monthly at noon with free lunch provided.  There is also a chance to earn $100!  If you are interested and have questions please contact Emily Johnson (ejohnson24@vcu.edu) or take a peak at the committees blog.  You can sign up to be a member by clicking here.
