Additional Cabell Library Furniture Upgrades Coming
Thanks to additional special funding from the Provost's Office, Cabell Library will be upgrading a great deal of study furniture this spring. In all, over 150 seats will be added, and in furnishing types and configurations that will be better utilized.
Components:
- First Floor: Worn furnishings in this busiest portion of the building will be replaced, including computer task chairs and remaining original Cabell furniture. In addition, new seats will be added in the form of soft seating, round and rectangular study tables, and cafe style tables.
- Second Floor: The main corridor, Cathedral-side quiet zone, and Floyd-side original study furniture will all be replaced, along with addition of new computer carrels.
- Third Floor: Original Cabell furniture and older computer carrels will be replaced with new study tables, study carrels, computer carrels, and soft seating.
In all purchasing choices the philosophy is to extend the design concepts identified during the first floor renovation several years ago by adding furniture that can ultimately be placed anywhere in the building as needs call for relocation over time. In addition, furniture choices include types that will be more efficiently used: smaller tables and soft seats that can be fit into larger or smaller locations, and chair and table types that ensure flexible options for both individuals and groups.
