Research Report on Open Access Publishing

A report on alternative business models for scholarly publishing has been released by the ALPSP.

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has announced the availability of a commissioned report on the current status of OA (open access) publishing.

The findings indicate a state of flux in regards to business models for both subscription-access and OA journals. While there is much experimentation and speculation with the newer OA models, there is no consensus regarding the best way to structure financing for a viable future. The study also looked at the issues of peer review and copy-editing among OA journals.

The full report, along with a press release from ALPSP and its partners, can be accessed from the Association's website at http:\\www.alpsp.org
