April 13, 2007 - Open Forum on Teaching and Publishing in the 21st Century

How do these developments affect what students perceive as authentic, reliable scholarly information? Join in the discussion of these and other questions in the final session in the Web Fluency, Authority and Publishing in the 21st Century series sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence and the VCU Libraries.

Petition for Public Access to Publicly Funded Research in the U.S.

The Alliance for Taxpayer Access and several leading American associations are sponsoring an online petition to call for strong support of open access. The petition builds on a similar European initiative and "is written to support public access to research funded by the U.S. government as well as the reintroduction and passage of the Federal Research Public Access Act," according to Heather Joseph, Director of SPARC.
