VCU patrons can read the digital edition of today's newspaper at Tompkins-McCaw Library. No more torn pages or messy newsprint! Check out a Kindle for two hours and experience the newspaper on an e-reader. Issues from the past two weeks are also available on the Kindle. For more information, visit the Service Desk.
Hi! I'm Jennifer McDaniel, one of the Education and Research Librarians at the Tompkins-McCaw Library. I joined the Research and Education department in August 2010 and have been busily learning my way around the VCU Libraries and the MCV Campus. Before joining VCU, I completed my master's degree in library science at The Catholic University of America and prior to that, a bachelor's degree in biology at Mount Saint Vincent University.
I will be serving as the library co-liaison to the School of Allied Health Professions and the School of Pharmacy. If you're a faculty, staff or student from one of these schools, please feel free to contact me to find out what a treasure trove of resources our library has available to meet your needs. I am available for research consultations and instructional sessions. Just let me know how I can help!
You can reach my by e-mail to jamcdaniel@vcu.edu or by phone at 827-1150. I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers!

On March 31 we'll be kicking off the first in a rotating series of exhibits in the first floor lobby of Tompkins-McCaw Library.
Bedpan Elegance explores an oft-overlooked object in the history of medical care that provides a simple yet vital service to the bedridden patient. The photography of William W. Dubois elevates and explicates these items in carefully composed object studies, and specimens from Tompkins-McCaw Library's own collection will be on display nearby.
Please join us for the opening reception and gallery talk, which will be held March 31 from 4-6 PM at the Tompkins-McCaw Library. The exhibit will remain open through the end of June.
For more information about the exhibit and the history of bedpans, check out the exhibit website or contact Special Collections & Archives.
