TML Library Liaisons: Meet Kim Brady

headshotsmall.JPG

Hi! I'm Kim Brady, a new Education & Research Librarian at Tompkins-McCaw Library. I started here in November and am excited to be a part of VCU Libraries and the greater VCU and Richmond communities. I earned my B.A. in Psychology, concentrating in Neuroscience, from Kenyon College (Gambier, OH) in 2006 and went on to work for the Cleveland Clinic's Alumni Library (Cleveland, OH). I earned my M.S. in Information, Library and Information Services, from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in 2010. My work in Michigan included field research on information exchange among dialysis patients, and a position with the University of Michigan Health System's cancer and cardiovascular patient resource libraries. I'm interested in the role of the physician and health team in providing and promoting patient access to consumer health information resources.

As an Education & Research Librarian, I will be acting as a Liaison to the School of Medicine's Basic Sciences and the VCU Health System. I'm available by appointment for individual and group consultations as well as classroom instruction. I also hold office hours in the Learning Center at Hunton Student Center (Room 209) on Friday mornings from 9am-12pm. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about library services including literature searches, RefWorks, PubMed, or anything else!

TML Library Liaison: Meet Emily Johnson

emily_proof5329.jpg

Hello, my name is Emily Johnson and I am one of the newest members of Tompkins-McCaw Library. I recently joined TML this past winter and am enjoying every opportunity learning about Virginia Commonwealth University and the greater Richmond community. I come to VCU after earning my Master in Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. While obtaining my degree, I interned at Falk Library for the Health Sciences, answering in-depth reference questions and teaching orientations to the library's services. Prior to my Masters degree, I earned my Bachelors degree in Information Studies from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

Here at VCU, I am an Education and Research Librarian. I am co-liaison to the School of Allied Health Professionals and liaison to the School of Medicine Clinical Sciences Departments. I am available to assist faculty, staff and students with navigating the resources available to you from VCU Libraries. I am able to meet with you one-on-one or in group consultations to assist you with your literature search. I can even provide class instruction tailored to your information needs for your discipline. I am dedicated to making the library a user-friendly environment to all members of the VCU community , so if you need any assistance, I am happy to help.

Feel free to contact me either by Email or by Phone (804) 628-2291. I hope to hear from you soon!
