         <title>Community Health Education Center 10th Anniversary Open House on April 17, 11am-1pm</title>
         <description><![CDATA[The Community Health Education Center is hosting an Open House to celebrate 10 
years of providing current and reliable health information in a 
welcoming and comfortable setting.&nbsp; Come by CHEC between 11:00 am and 
1:00 pm on April 17, 2012 to see what we have to offer and celebrate 
with us!&nbsp; During this time, we will have giveaways, prizes, and refreshments available.&nbsp; We hope you will 
visit during our Open House celebration and throughout our 10th year!

         <title>Snake Bite Program at the Community Health Education Center on August 24 at noon</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Please join us on Wednesday, August 24 at noon for a program on snake 
bites presented by Evelyn Waring, Director of Public Education for the <a href="http://www.poison.vcu.edu/about.html">Virginia Poison Center</a>
 at the VCU Medical Center. This program will be focused on Virginia's

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Please join us in the Community Health Education Center on Thursday, May 26 at noon for "Happiness at Work" presented by Anne Hawkins, Nursing Director of Psychiatry, VCU Health System.  In this presentation, Anne Hawkins plans to review research on "joy" and "happiness" at work, identify sources of joy through work, examine how positive and negative attitudes can impact a team, and discuss actions that individuals can make to enhance joy at work. Sydnor will present "State of the Art Treatment for Varicose Veins and Spider Veins." Dr. Sydnor is Director, Vascular & Interventional Radiology, Department of Radiology at Virginia Commonwealth University.          <title>iPhone and iPod Touch Solutions for Healthcare</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p>Wednesday, January 20, 2010<br />

Tompkins-McCaw Library - 1st Floor Conference Room </p>

<p>This presentation will cover various aspects of how the iPhone/iPod Touch are being used in healthcare, and by healthcare providers and students. We will discuss the iPhone/iPod Touch features such as internet access, iTunes U, podcasts, and over 100,000 available applications. These features combined with the portability of the device are being used for medical imaging, alerts, patient monitoring, medical reference tools and calculators, even hospital security camera monitoring, and more. We will also touch on the basics of deploying and managing these devices. After the presentation, we encourage folks to use the remaining scheduled time to join Apple for refreshments and informal discussions with other attendees. Seating is limited; registration required.</p>

<p>Dr. Tadataka (Tachi) Yamada leads the <a href="http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx">Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s </a>efforts to reduce global health inequities by investing in affordable new vaccines, therapies, and diagnostics for diseases that most gravely burden the world’s poor, and by developing new partnerships to shape the future of global public health. In his presentation, Dr. Yamada will speak to his vision of the foundation's current and future role, and more broadly, to the shared priorities and approaches most important to securing major public health successes in the future.</p>
