Development and Community Relations Office
|
The VCU Libraries Development and Community Relations Office builds strong relationships within the VCU and Richmond communities, creates enriching programs and events, and secures private financial support to meet the needs of the VCU Libraries. The VCU Libraries works with two volunteer library boards, the VCU Friends of the Library and the James Branch Cabell Library Associates. The VCU Friends of the Library Board was founded in 1983, and their mission is to strengthen the libraries' resources and services in order to prepare students for a lifetime of learning and to provide scholarly resources for faculty. The VCU Friends of the Library board sponsor events and lectures throughout the year, including the annual book sale, Friends lecture, and other fundraising events. The James Branch Cabell Library Associates Board, founded in 1972, promotes the critical study and preservation of the collection of Richmond writer James Branch Cabell. The Cabell Associates sponsor the annual James Branch Cabell Lecture, whose purpose is to showcase up-and-coming authors with ties to Virginia and encourage a dialogue among an audience of students, faculty, and community members. Additionally, the Cabell Associates support the acquisition and preservation of Cabell related materials which are housed in Special Collections and Archives, James Branch Cabell Library. The VCU Libraries Development Office encourages you to support
the VCU Libraries through a financial donation or volunteer
involvement with the VCU Friends of the Library board. To learn
