VCU Libraries Book Sale Policies
Proceeds from the Friends of the Library Book Sale help fund VCU Libraries’ collections, programs, and lectures. Thank you for your generosity!
1. The preview sale is only open to current Friends of the Library Donors. Friends' donations must be received by noon on Monday, October 17, 2011 in order to be processed in time for preview sale admission. You must present your current Friends of the Library donor card for admission to the preview sale. Everyone at the preview sale must have their own donor card.
2. You may line up to enter the sale at the designated area in the basement. You must be present in the line to hold your place, and cannot use boxes, coats, etc. as placeholders. At 9:00 a.m., a volunteer will begin checking donor cards and allowing entrance to the preview sale.
3. Scanners and other hand-held devices used to check the barcodes and values of donated materials are not permitted during the preview sale.
4. Once you take a book off the shelf and put it in your box, pile, etc., we consider it bought. You may not hoard books in large piles to sort through and return to the shelves later in the day – it is unfair to our other guests.
5. Keep the aisles clear of book piles, multiple boxes, blankets, etc.
6. We will have reusable tote bags for sale, but if you would prefer boxes, please bring your own.
7. You may not take books away from the sale area until purchased.
8. Payment can be made by credit card, cash, RamBucks or a personal check (you will need to show a photo id).
9. Because of limited staffing, we can not help you take your books out to your vehicle, nor can we loan out carts.
10. Library computers are for use by VCU students, faculty, and staff.
