The James Branch Cabell Library Associates Board, founded in 1972, promotes the critical study and preservation of the collection of Richmond writer James Branch Cabell. The Cabell Associates sponsor the annual James Branch Cabell Lecture, whose purpose is to showcase up-and-coming authors with ties to Virginia and encourage a dialogue among an audience of students, faculty, and community members. Additionally, the Cabell Associates support the acquisition and preservation of Cabell related materials which are housed in Special Collections and Archives, James Branch Cabell Library.
