Is it possible to reserve a group study room?

Study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis only.  Groups have priority over individuals in the event all study rooms are in use.  Please see the Study Rooms Group Study Room Policy for more information regarding use of the rooms.


I’d like to schedule a library instruction session for my class.  How would I do that?

You may to schedule a time for your class to come in for library instruction via the VCU Libraries Instruction Reservation Request Form. Please note that a minimum of two weeks advance notice is required. 


Where is the Library Instruction Classroom?

The Library Instruction Classroom, sometimes referred to as the LICL (pronounced like "trickle"), is located on the third floor of Cabell Library, room 319 (map).  It will be to your right as you exit the elevators. 


How can I find and access materials my instructor put on reserve?

You can search course reserves by using the Reserves tab in the VCU Libraries Catalog, or directly from the Course Reserves Services page.  To access electronic materials from off-campus, you will need your eID and password.  Books, AV media, and other materials are available in Media and Reserves Services on the third floor.


Can I schedule an appointment for specialized research assistance?

Research and Instructional Services staff offer personalized consultation services to support the research needs of VCU faculty, students and staff, including training in how to search specific databases and assistance in locating information in print and electronic format.  To request an appointment, fill out the brief online form.


My advisor told me that I need to submit my dissertation (or thesis) as an ETD.  Who can I talk to about this?

Virginia Commonwealth University requires thesis and dissertation candidates to deposit print or electronic copies of their work with the VCU Libraries.  For more information, see the Thesis and Dissertation Information Web page, or contact Patricia Selinger, Head, Preservation at 828-8679 or peselinger@vcu.edu.


What is CLUAC?  Can I be a member?

CLUAC is the Cabell Library Undergraduate Advisory Committee, a group of students who advise the Undergraduate Services Librarian and the VCU Libraries in matters related to service design and implementation, programming, and promotion.  CLUAC recruits new members at the beginning of the fall semester.
