Letters from former President Harry S. Truman

October and November, 1954

Former President Harry F. Truman (1884-1972) called for a Democratic Party takeover of the U.S. Congress in the election of 1954. This cartoon appeared in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on October 19, 1954. Truman states in his first letter asking for a copy of the cartoon that he has a large collection of original political cartoons. In the second letter he thanks Seibel for sending him the original.
