Some of the most architectural significant buildings of 19th and 20th century Richmond, Virginia are located on, or adjacent to, the campuses of VCU. Richmond's architectural history is a growing area of collection for Special Collections and Archives. A major focus of this collection is documenting the architecture of what is known today as the Fan District, which includes VCU's Monroe Park Campus. Henry Hobson Richardson (1838-1881): There are currently very few online resources devoted to the life and work of Henry Hobson Richardson (1838-1881) whose influence on architecture in the late 19th century can be seen in buildings across the country, including Richmond. The sites below primarily focus on specific buildings built by Richardson.
