Archives of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) -- The AFSC is a Quaker organization that has served individuals and groups worldwide since 1917. Among their efforts was the placement of many of Prince Edward County's African American children elsewhere in the country so they could continue their education. The AFSC also worked behind the scenes to seek peaceful solutions to the school closing and the racial antagonisms. The Ground Beneath Our Feet: Massive Resistance -- Interactive web site showcasing the film documentary of the same name. The film documents the history of "massive resistance" and considers some of its legacies. The web site includes numerous images of the individuals involved in the fight for equality in Prince Edward County, transcripts of 1950s newspaper accounts, interviews, and a time line of "Massive Resistance" in Virginia. This site is maintained by UVA's Virginia Center for Digital History and Central Virginia's Public Television stations. The Robert Russa Moton Museum: A Center For the Study of Civil Rights in Virginia -- The museum is located at the school where Prince Edward County students organized their protest against segregation in April 1951. The museum is "committed to the preservation and positive interpretation of the history of civil rights in education, specifically as it relates to Prince Edward County and the role its citizens played..." The site includes a detailed history of the struggle for equality by African Americans in Prince Edward County; information about museum sponsored events, exhibits, and news; links to other sites; and a bibliography.
