Gay and lesbian
Gay and lesbian groups emerged in Central Virginia as an organized community in the mid-1970s and have increased in number and influence in the succeeding years. At VCU Libraries, we work with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight-allied organizations and individuals to document their work for use by future researchers. The records of the Virginia Partisans Gay and Lesbian Democratic Club, the Log Cabin Republicans, the Richmond Triangle Players theater troupe, and the Richmond chapter of Parents and Families of Lesbians and Gays are a few of the gay and lesbian organizations whose history is being retained by the James Branch Cabell Library.
We invite other organizations and individuals to contact us and add to this archive for the benefit of future researchers of queer studies and Virginia history.
