Preserving Library Collections
The Preservation Department works to keep library resources available to those who need them now and to future generations. All library materials, including print, media and electronic resources are vulnerable to aging and damage. Preservation is a centralized department that works with related departments in the Libraries to care, treat, and store materials.
About Preservation
While many preservation treatments require considerable skill and training, the most important treatments are performed by everyone who uses the Libraries. By observing a few care and handling guidelines, everyone will help extend the life of library collections and will decrease the need for costly repairs, rebinding, or replacement.
