BINDING OPERATIONS
The VCU Preservation Department binds over 20,000 volumes each year. The binding of current periodical titles and paperback monographs and the rebinding of damaged items is centralized in the Preservation Department of the Collections, Technical Services, and Information Systems (CTSIS). Commercial binding services for the VCU Libraries are provided by Bridgeport National Bindery in Agawam, Massachusetts. Bindery orders are shipped and received every two weeks. Bridgeport National Bindery provides the following services:
* standard and economy book binding
* standard and custom periodical binding
* thesis and dissertation binding
* protective enclosures
The contract for binding services was awarded in 2006.
