WRITE-N-CITE USERS: Write-N-Cite will continue to open in RefWorks Classic until the new version of Write-N-Cite becomes available in late summer.

RefWorks is a web-based citation management tool. Use it to store citations in your own personal database; manage references in folders for individual topics, courses, grants, or collaborative projects; automatically generate bibliographies in various formats, e.g., MLA, APA, Chicago. Examples of using RefWorks to manage references. Use the dropdown "Switch to" menu to display the citations in APA style. Click on the VIEW link to see the complete reference. The "Personal Notes" field contains comments about how the reference has been customized.

All VCU-affiliated users who have VCU and/or MCVH-VCU email accounts may set up free accounts via the VCU Libraries subscription.

New Users

Start with this VCU Libraries link to set up your account. Select the "Sign up for an individual account" link and follow the prompts. You may use any log-in name and password you like, but you must enter your VCU or MCVH email address. Need help? Here's a quick tutorial on setting up a RefWorks account - select "Logging Into Refworks." To keep your account active while you are at VCU, log into it at least once per year. Be sure to look at Leaving VCU for instructions on saving your references when you graduate or otherwise leave VCU.

Remote Access

VCU eID/password
Click on any of the RefWorks links on VCU Libraries pages or bookmark http://proxy.library.vcu.edu/login?url=https://www.refworks.com/refworks for quick access to the RefWorks Login screen. See RefWorks FAQ's for more information.

OR

Group Code
The Group Code is subject to change. Obtain the current Group Code via this eID-protected link. You may then bookmark http://www.refworks.com/refworks to login after entering the Group Code.

Former VCU students and employees will not be able to see the Group Code and should submit a Logon Problem Report. We will provide the Group Code along with instructions for saving references and a deadline for doing so. We will delete the RefWorks account as soon as the deadline has passed.
