Item Request Form Definitions
- Holds. You may request that an item
be reserved (held) for you. A hold can be placed on circulating library materials
charged to another user, on order, in transit, in the marking room, in the
repair room, or at the bindery. You will be notified when the materials become
available and they will be held for you to check out. Holds are available
to all registered borrowers. Back to Item

- Recalls. You may request that checked
out materials be returned before their due date. The person with the materials
must have had the materials for at least 21 days before the recall will take
effect. You will be notified when the materials have been returned. Recalls
are available to VCU faculty, staff and students only. Back

- Deliveries. You may request that
circulating library materials be delivered from one VCU Library building to
another, e.g., Cabell to Tompkins-McCaw, where it may be more convenient for
you to drop by and check these materials out. In addition, library materials
may be returned to any VCU Library regardless of where they were checked out.
Deliveries are available to VCU faculty, staff and students only.

- Searches. You may request that library
staff conduct a thorough search for library materials that cannot be found
in their proper locations. You will be notified when the materials are found.

- Expedites. You may request that
processing be rushed for items On Order or In Processing (e.g., cataloging,
marking). A hold will be placed for you and the processing of that item will
be accelerated. You will be notified when the materials become available.
Expedites are available to VCU faculty, staff and students only.
