VCU Libraries provides various study spaces for use by the VCU community. When using library spaces be sure to refer to the Cabell Library & TML Library policies for responsible use.


James Branch Cabell Library

Group Study Area Policy
  • Designed to support and foster collaboration
Group Viewing Room
  • Located on the 3rd floor - Available for curricular use by the VCU community
Assistive Technology Room for Disability Services
  • Located in the southeast corner of the Cabell Library - Primarily for vision impaired users - Wheelchair accessible
Special Collections & Archives Reading Room
  • Located on the 4th floor - Available for viewing rare books and manuscript collections
Cabell Library Interactive Floor Maps
  • Maps of the Basement through 4th Floors

Tompkins-McCaw Library

Group Study Rooms
  • Located on the 2nd floor - Allows groups of two or more to work collaboratively - through the stairwell in the first floor old wing or elevator access is available from Stack Level E
Quiet Study Room
  • Located on the 2nd floor Room 2-001 next to the LIMERC Computer Lab
Instructional Media Workshop
  • Self-service facility available to VCU faculty, staff & students for making media presentation materials- Located in the basement in Room B-037
Special Collections & Archives Reading Room
  • Located on the 1st floor - Available for general study and viewing rare and valuable materials related to the history of health sciences in Virginia
