The James Branch Cabell Library Presentation Rehearsal Studio provides VCU students, faculty and staff with the space and technology resources to practice, record and develop presentations as well as to refine public speaking skills.

Presentations are recorded and then archived to a flash drive.
Please note that you must have a flash drive to record a

About the Presentation Rehearsal Studio

The system is designed to work with laptop computers and other portable devices as well. The facility features a podium with a flip top touch screen that controls:

  • a ceiling-mounted projector
  • a microphone and wall-mounted speakers
  • a motorized viewing screen
  • a wall-mounted camera to record presentations

In addition, the space includes: wireless access, power, and networking for laptop computers, a conference table and seating for up to 10 people, and window blinds to darken the room.

Guidelines for Use

VCU students, faculty and staff are encouraged, but not required, to reserve the Presentation Rehearsal Studio in advance. The key to the room is available for checkout at the Circulation and Information Services desk.

VCU students, faculty and staff who require the specific technology available in the Presentation Rehearsal Studio may use it. Meetings that do not require these technology resources should be scheduled in another location. Please note:

About Reservations

  • Reservations can be made for 1 or 2 hours.
  • Individuals are permitted one reservation each 12-hour period.
  • If the room is available, we will accommodate walk-in requests. Users without a reservation must leave the room before the next scheduled reservation.
  • If the room is not in use within 15 minutes of a scheduled reservation start time, it will be considered vacant and made available to others on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Individuals with reservations may request the key at the Circulation and Information Services desk. Please be prepared to show your VCUcard to check out the key.

Making Reservations

Reservations are recommended. To make a reservation:

  • Login to the VCU Libraries Catalog with your VCU eID.
  • Enter the day and time for your reservation and click "Go."
  • Review your reservation information and click "Go" to confirm.
  • To view your reservation or to delete a reservation, click "My Library Record" and then "Booking Requests."
