RamBikes at VCU Libraries

Sun Atlas bicycle Through a joint initiative with VCU RamBikes and VCU Goes Green, VCU Libraries offers bicycles to borrow for 24 hours.

Loan Details

  • Borrowers are required to sign a waiver of liability before they can check out a key to the lock securing a bike to the rack in front of the library.
  • Bikes are loaned for 24 hours.
  • Loans can be renewed for an additional 24 hours. Renew online or call the service desk at either library:
    • Cabell Library: (804) 828-1111
    • Tompkins-McCaw Library: (804) 828-0636
  • If bikes are not returned by the date and time due, an overdue fine of $25 per day, or portion of a day, will be assessed.
  • Adjustable helmets are loaned with the bikes, and are available in sizes small/medium and large/extra large.
  • The seat height is also adjustable, and an Allen wrench (hex key) is available.
  • Bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Bikes

The bicycles are Sun Atlas coaster bikes (meaning they don't have gears or hand-brakes).

Locations

There are four bikes available at Cabell Library and another four bikes available at Tompkins-McCaw Library. They must be returned to the location where they were borrowed.
