Acquiring Full-Text Online Journal Articles in PubMed Using the VCU Libraries Web Site
Why Use the VCU Libraries MEDLINE/PubMed Link?
Using the MEDLINE/PubMed link from the VCU Libraries page allows you to search PubMed using a special query. Each time you search for articles, it checks the VCU Libraries holdings to see what journals we own. As a result, your search results indicate when VCU Libraries has access to the articles -- both in print and in online full-text format.See also: PubMed RSS Feeds Feature - which provides an easy method to keep up with new literature.

Acquiring the journal articles from PubMed
VCU Libraries icons indicate when VCU has a subscription to a journal*. Click on the VCU Online Collection icon to get to the full-text of the article. Click on the Print Collection icon to find the range of years the library has for a particular journal, as well as provide a link to the catalog to help you determine where the journal is located. If you have questions, contact the Service Desk at Tompkins-McCaw Library (804-828-0636).**
*Please note, the icon above for "JAMA" is provided by the publisher in order to indicate an online full-text version is available from the publisher. Publisher-provided icons DO NOT indicate if or when VCU Libraries has a subscription to a journal. Check for VCU Libraries icons to tell when the library subscribes to the journal. Check the library catalog if you are uncertain if the library has the journal. Call the Service Desk at Tompkins-McCaw Library (804-828-0636) if you have further questions. In order for icons to display you need to enter PubMed from the http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?holding=vculib Web address, or be logged into your PubMed Cubby account, with VCU Libraries indicated as your primary institution. **The toll-free number for VCU Libraries is 1-866-VCU-BOOK (1-866-828-2665).
