Collections
Established in 1897, the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences is one of the nation’s oldest health sciences libraries. Tompkins-McCaw Library has the largest health sciences collection in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is noted for its rich historical special collections, archives, and collection of medical artifacts.
The Library collections support the academic programs on the MCV Campus of VCU, including the Schools of Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and the new School of Public Health. Clinical patient care and research activities of the University and VCU Health System are also supported by the collections.
