Virginia Partnership for Strategic Planning in Nursing

The Virginia Partnership for Strategic Planning in Nursing (VA Partnership) is an outgrowth of more than 20 years of nursing collaboration through the Alliance of Nursing Organizations and Specialty Nursing Groups. This expanded partnership includes consumers and health care industry and business leaders. The project goal was to develop a nursing workforce that meets the needs of Virginia in the 21st century. VA Partnership is a member of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Colleagues in Caring: Regional Collaborations for Nursing Work Force Development network and provides leadership in: establishing a permanent forum for analyzing health workforce issues and proposing solutions to need, supply and demand issues; developing a nursing workforce forecasting model for Virginia; implementing educational mobility models across the nursing education programs; reducing barriers to educational mobility; establishing programs for retooling nurses through academic and industry collaboration; developing practice models to meet the nursing needs of Virginians; and. coordinating information and data within the state to assure public policy that fosters the health of Virginia's citizens.
