Virginia Association of School Nurses, Inc.
The purpose of VASN is (1) to promote and advance the quality of school health services and health education throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, (2) to promote the interest and rights of its members, and (3) to operate as an educational organization for its members on a nonprofit basis.

1984:
October 5, 1984, school nurses met while at the Conference for school nurses sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education. Decided to meet to form their own organization.
Steering committee of school nurses met on December 4th at the Imperial 400 Motor Inn in Richmond to organize the Virginia Association of School Nurses (VASN). By-laws were adopted. Officers were elected with Betty Barr as president. VASN members voted to be affiliated with the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). - 1985: Betty Barr remained President of VASN. Charter Conference was held in Alexandria.
- 1986: Olga Wright elected President of VASN. Conference was held in Virginia Beach.
- 1987: Peggy Byrd elected President of VASN. Conference was held in Roanoke.
- 1988: Ann Yankovitch was elected President of VASN. Conference held in Winchester.
- 1989: Phyllis Bricker was elected President of VASN. Conference was held in Hampton/Newport News. VASN with its affiliation with the National Association of School Nurses, was host for the National Conference in Crystal City, Virginia.
- 1990: Donnese Kern was elected President of VASN. Betty Barr was selected as the first School Nurse of the Year for Virginia. Conference was held in Richmond.
- 1991: Gwen Smith was elected President of VASN. Bev Bonderman was the School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Chesapeake.
- 1992: Audrey Lewis was elected President of VASN. Catherine Hatcher was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Fredericksburg.
- 1993: Bonnie Krieger was elected President of VASN. Phyllis Bricker was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Roanoke. Name Change- VASN became incorporated to become the Virginia Association of School Nurses, Inc.
- 1994: Earnestine White was elected President of VASN. Diane Arigo was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Williamsburg.
- 1995: Elizabeth Murphy was elected President of VASN. Sandra Moore was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Herndon.
- 1996: Linda Koogler was elected President of VASN. Mary Anne Fussell was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Virginia Beach. VASN was Host for the National Association of School Nurses conference in Washington D.C. Olga Wright received the Service Recognition Award from the National Association of School Nurses.
- 1997: Ann Smith was elected President of VASN. Hazel Stokes Wyatt was School Nurse of the Year. Conference was held in Chesterfield County/Richmond.
- 1998: Barbara Robinson was elected President of VASN. Christine Irby was School Nurse of the Year. Janice White was selected the first School Nurse Administrator of the Year. Conference was held in Hampton.
- 1999: Sandra Boyd is elected as President-elect of VASN. Conference will be held in Roanoke in October. School Nurse and School Nurse Administrator of the Year will be announced at the Conference.
- 2002: Kathleen Schweinsberg serves as President.
