Highlights from the Book Art Collection at VCU Libraries' Special Collections and Archives

Librarians Yuki Hibben and Andrea Kohashi share highlights from VCU Libraries' Book Art Collection. Viewers will see a wide array of books from seminal artists' books of the 20th century to finely crafted editions with unusual bindings, structures and materials. The collection includes over 4,000 items and encompasses all aspects of contemporary artists' publications.
The event is a part of CURRENT Books 2018, an inaugural series of events aimed at featuring independent and small publications of books, zines, monographs and other book-based art objects. On the week of March 26, CURRENT Books will host several workshops at Studio Two Three on the process of publishing a book, as well as a book fair, where guests may purchase publications directly from artists and local publishers based in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and North Carolina. The event is free and open to all, but please register. Parking is available for a fee in the West Broad Street, West Main Street and West Cary Street parking decks.
