VCU invites students, faculty, librarians, scientists, writers and researchers to the Virginia satellite session of the international conference OpenCon on Jan. 11, 2019.
OpenCon Virginia brings together students, researchers, educators, librarians and others who want to learn how to create a more open system of information in research and education. The program includes keynote presentations, lightning talks, and breakout sessions on topics of open data, reproducibility, open educational resources, new methods and models of open publishing, and more.
The event is free and open to all, but please register. Parking is available for a fee in the West Broad Street, West Main Street and West Cary Street parking decks. For special accommodations, please call the VCU Libraries Events Office at (804) 828-0593.
Propose a Lightning Talk
OpenCon Virginia 2019 invites submissions for lightning talks on any of the conference topics:
- Open access publishing
- Open data
- Open science
- Open education
- Open anything
Potential topics could include:
- A project you've completed or a project in progress
- Tips and tricks for making your work open
- Ideas for creating a more open system of information in research and education
Each presenter will have five minutes to deliver their lightning talk. To submit your idea for a lightning talk, fill out the submission form by Dec. 21.
