Seat-a-Student

Some 1,500 new seats will be added to the new library building. Decisions about the types of seating and workspaces are being made with student input and crowdsourcing. This significant increase in the quantity and variety of study seats will accommodate collaborative and individual work in active and quiet settings. Throughout the library will be more tables and soft seating, carrels, booths, benches and collaboration pods for all sorts of scholarly endeavors—solo or in pairs, triads or groups.

Our Seat-a-Student initiative offers giving opportunities from $500 to $5000. Gifts to Seat-a-Student allow the purchase of seating that benefits the way students work.

To learn more about these giving opportunities and see photographs of furniture options, please contact Antonia F.D. Vassar, assistant director of annual giving and donor stewardship, at vassaram@vcu.edu or (804) 827-1165.

Please note: All checks should be made payable to "VCU Foundation" with the particular fund (ex. "Seat-a-Student Fund," "Campaign for VCU Libraries," etc.) written on the memo line.
