Community Health Education Center
The Community Health Education Center (CHEC) is a partnership of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS), VCU Libraries, and the MCV Hospitals Auxiliary. This consumer health library provides patients, their family members, and the members of the greater Richmond community access to authoritative and accurate health information.
CHEC’s mission is to foster the advancement and development of health knowledge within the community.
Newly diagnosed? Need to know how to manage a chronic condition? Want to learn more about wellness and nutrition? We can help you find answers to your health questions. At our consumer health library a librarian and staff will guide you to online and print resources. Our services are free.
Get Health Information
In addition to the collection of books, magazines and videos housed in the Community Health Education Center, the CHEC librarian and staff organize online resources, most of which are accessible from any computer. We’re updating these pages often so check back for new information. Health and Wellness Resource Guides contains a variety of resource guides on health topics including women’s health, health literacy, and quitting smoking, and various diseases. More information is available to the VCU Community via the CHEC blog.
