Mapp Room remains open to grad students on noisy fourth floor
June 2, 2014
Cabell Library's fourth floor Mapp Room, used by graduates with card access for quiet study, will remain open longer than originally planned. This change is due to a shift in construction plans.
VCU Libraries had announced previously that the Mapp Room for Graduate Study would close for exclusive graduate study in June to be converted into a temporary Reading Room for Special Collections and Archives.
The fourth floor of Cabell, the traditional "silent study" area will see dramatic change in June. Furniture will be moved to the third floor June 9-11. Power to fourth floor furniture has been disconnected. The fourth floor will become a loud and busy construction zone as shelving is removed and new walls are built.
Students seeking quiet study spaces might consider the third floor.
