VCU Writing Center offers Saturday walk-in satellite in Cabell Library
April 8, 2019
Just in time to help with end-of-semester projects, the VCU Writing Center will offer walk-in hours at Cabell Library Saturdays in April.
Writing Center consultants will be available in Room 101B from noon to 4 p.m. April 13, 20 and 27. If students find this service useful, it may be extended in the future.
The Writing Center, which provides peer-based support to help VCU students become stronger writers, is not open on weekends. In addition to this new Saturday satellite program at Cabell, the center has walk-in hours at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences Tuesdays (3 to 7 p.m.) and Sundays (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Whether the project is a lengthy paper, a script for a film, a brief essay or a Power Point for a class presentation, Center consultants can coach students on how to organize their thoughts more clearly, correctly and forcefully. They can also point students to information sources for grammatical, structural, style and spelling help. They can also assist with proper citation and attribution.
