Julie Arendt works with faculty and students in engineering and science to support their research and learning. She provides one-on one consultations, in-class instruction sessions, and hands-on workshops. In both her consultation work and her teaching, she likes to get questions and work together with patrons to make progress toward their goals.

Her research interests are at the intersection of online access, especially free tools and free access, and library services for students and faculty in higher education. She has several articles published in these areas.

Before joining the faculty at VCU in 2013, Arendt was a science and engineering reference librarian at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
