Sarah Neely joined the VCU Libraries development staff in late 2018 as the libraries first fundraiser with primary responsibilities for annual fund giving programs and corporate sponsorship.
A 2014 graduate of VCU with a B.S. in psychology, Neely spent the first years of her professional life at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. In a variety of roles, she managed special events for the Garden as well as earned income events such as weddings. Most recently, starting in August 2018, she became the Stewardship Manager and served as liaison to boards of directors and associates and other advisory groups. In that role, she managed donor appreciation projects, events and communications and helped solicit donations from board members. She secured corporate sponsorships for fundraising events and exceeded that fundraising goal by 20 percent.
Neely has first-hand knowledge of and ties to some of the VCU groups she will be working with to increase the libraries’ annual giving rate. She was a member of the VCU Emerging Leadership Program, which partners with VCU Libraries on the annual book sale. As a student, she was also a founding member of STAT (Students Today Alumni Tomorrow).
