Rachel Turner joined VCU in fall 2022 to help with metadata initiatives in the Resource Acquisitions and Metadata Services Department. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring collaborative, cohesive metadata practices across the libraries. This work allows users to easily find the material they need.
In her previous role as Head of the Cataloging/Metadata Department at Binghamton University, Turner worked to standardize cataloging and metadata practices and policies. Her experience brings invaluable insight to help VCU Libraries patrons have the best user experience they can. Her goal is to provide accurate data for material to increase discoverability, and she is passionate about providing this access to researchers.
She is active in many American Library Association committees and groups.
