Community outreach

While Special Collections and Archives primarily advances student success, research and creative expression at VCU, it also encourages the use of its holdings by diverse individuals and communities in Richmond and beyond. Both departments offer a wide variety of community outreach programs, including tours, exhibits, presentations, workshops and classroom visits. Outreach programming is available in library buildings, across campus units and in various community locations.

Programming is designed to promote our unique holdings or to provide information about topics such as local history and preservation. Because staff members work with individuals and groups to tailor content, early scheduling of outreach activities is strongly encouraged. Requests are accommodated based on a variety of factors, among them the availability of staff, equipment and collection materials.
