Tompkins-McCaw Library Lactation Room

The Tompkins-McCaw Library lactation room is quiet, relaxing and private for those who need to pump or feed a baby.  The room is located on the second floor.

The room offers:

  • Medela Symphony pump
  • Comfortable seating with a small table
  • Privacy

Available during library hours, this room is free to use and accessible with a key that may be checked out from the Service Desk on the first floor with your VCU CardMake your reservation online before checking out the key.

Accessible bathrooms are available on the first floor, plus other bathroom facilities on the second and basement levels.  There are no changing tables available in the restrooms or the lactation room.

The purpose of the room is to provide a comfortable, private space for parents to pump milk, or to nurse/feed their babies. However, babies may be fed anywhere in Tompkins-McCaw Library based on the parents’ or caretakers’ preferences.
