The Workshop at Cabell Library hosts virtual reality art/science installation Saturday, April 15

April 12, 2017
The Workshop at Cabell Library hosts a session of The Machine To Be Another, Saturday, April 15, noon to 6 p.m. This is a virtual-reality based art/science installation and experience that offers "transformative experiences that question biases and expand perceptions, understanding and empathy between people from of all walks of life."

Funded by the VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Initiative, The Depot is bringing to Richmond this group of virtual reality researchers, designers, technicians and performers from Barcelona, Spain. Combining neuroscience protocols with art performance they question the brain’s ability to perceive and to experience what it is like to be in the body of another person. The Machine To Be Another is at once a performance, an experiment, a social question and a technical adventure into new territories of thought, feeling and concept.

Events are free and open to all:
  • April 13 4 p.m. The Machine to Be Another public presentation at the Depot
  • April 14, 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m., Open sessions at the Depot
