VCU Libraries advisory groups seeking new student members for 2020-21

VCU Libraries has two student advisory groups, one for James Branch Cabell Library on the Monroe Park Campus and one for Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences on the MCV Campus.

Both committees are accepting applications for new members. Undergraduates are invited to apply for the Cabell Library Undergraduate Advisory Committee (CLUAC), and the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences Student Advisory Committee (TMLSAC) accepts both undergraduate and graduate students.

Cabell Library Undergraduate Advisory Committee (CLUAC) — Apply by Aug. 27, 2020

CLUAC promotes the value of Cabell Library in the academic and social life of undergraduates at VCU and advises VCU Libraries in matters related to service design and implementation, programming and student priorities. Enrolled, full-time VCU undergraduates from all majors and ranks are encouraged to apply. Applications will be evaluated based on demonstrated enthusiasm and skills relevant to the position. VCU Libraries seeks a diverse group of service-oriented students who will represent the various needs and perspectives of the VCU undergraduate population.

Applications are due by noon on August 27, 2020 for applicants interested in serving in the current academic year. The term of service for this position is one academic year from September 2020 to May 2021. Committee members must be able to attend one meeting a month, which will take place on selected Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Also, members must participate in library service activities. Committee members will receive a $150 service award upon successful completion of their term and these requirements.

Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences Student Advisory Committee (TMLSAC) — Apply by Sept. 8, 2020

Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences Student Advisory Committee supports the student experience on the MCV Campus by voicing student ideas and concerns to VCU Libraries and assisting the libraries with projects that directly benefit student life and scholarship.

VCU Libraries seeks membership from any student on the MCV Campus. At least two representatives will be selected from each school on the MCV Campus, and positions are available for undergraduates.

Applications are due by September 8, 2020 and committee membership runs from September 2020 through April 2021. All meetings will be held virtually until further notice. Each student participating is eligible for a $100 service award upon completion of their time on the committee.

Meetings will be held on the second Thursday of most months. Meetings will take place noon–1 p.m. using Zoom.
