Food for Fines project helps hungry students and those with library fines

November 28, 2016

James Branch Cabell Library will host a food drive Dec. 1-20 to stock RamPantry @ VCU, which provides nutritious and culturally appropriate emergency food to VCU students.

In this case, generosity has an added benefit for people who owe fines or certain fees for library materials.

For each food item a person donates to the Food for Fines project, VCU Libraries will waive $5 in overdue fines or processing fees up to a $30 maximum. To qualify: Materials must be returned. Interlibrary loan fines and fees and lost item replacement fees will not be waived.

Bring food donation(s) to the Information Desk. Not sure what to donate? Here’s a suggestion list. Any kind of non-perishable food is acceptable. There is no limit to how many food items you can donate.
