Students: End-of-semester submissions needed for Spring-Summer Cabell Screen Student Showcase

March 27, 2018

James Branch Cabell Library's big screen hosts regular showcases of student work. The next showcase is being prepared. It will run on the Cabell Screen facing The Compass through September, 2018. This exhibit will be seen by new students on campus for New Student Orientations and by prospective students visiting campus during the summer.

Please encourage your students to share their work with the Cabell Screen. The committee looks for varied works still or kinetic works, paintings, drawings, fashion or costume sketches, interior designs, stage designs, photographs, illustrations, animations, cartoons, comic arts, or anything else interesting to see.

We can also build exhibits based on a class' collective work. If you would like to explore that idea, please contact Sue Robinson at srobinson26@vcu.edu by the end of April.

All students, full- or part-time, in any educational program, degree-seeking or not, are invited to send end-of-semester projects for consideration.

Students may submit multiple images for consideration with one submission form.

Deadline is Monday, May 14 at 11:59 p.m.

Due to the large numbers of works submitted, the library committee may not be able to respond to each and every inquiry promptly. Students will be notified if their work is selected and will be given a timeframe for its showing. Just because one piece isn't chosen, doesn't mean the next one won't be! There is no limit to the number of pieces or the number of times students can submit work.

The screen does best with simple images rather than very detailed pieces. We particularly welcome works created specifically for the screen. The aspect ratio of the screen is 9:8 and your work will be cropped to adhere to the aspect ratio.
