Special Collections and Archives at Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Science and James Branch Cabell Library are open only by appointment until after Labor Day.

To request research assistance, schedule a class, or make an appointment to access collections, contact libtmlsca@vcu.edu or (804) 828-9898 for Tompkins-McCaw or  libjbcsca@vcu.edu or (804) 828-1108 for Cabell.

Special Collections and Archives on both campuses will reopen for walk-in researchers on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Appointments are encouraged so that staff can prepare materials in advance. As a precautionary measure during COVID-19, collections materials will be quarantined for five days following use. Researchers are required to wear a face covering, maintain physical distance from others during their visit, and wash their hands before and after handling materials.

Three researchers at a time will be permitted to use the reading rooms at both locations.
