Beginning Monday, April 12, VCU Libraries will host an ongoing food drive to help stock Ram Pantry@VCU, which provides nutritious and culturally appropriate emergency food to VCU students.

In this case, generosity has an added benefit for people who owe overdue fines for library materials.

For each food item a person donates, VCU Libraries will forgive $5 in overdue fines, up to a $30 maximum per semester. Fees to repair damaged items or to replace lost items are not eligible for this program. The food drive semesters are as follows:

  • Spring: January 1 - April 30
  • Summer: May 1 - August 31
  • Fall: September 1 - December 31

Bring food donation(s) to the Information Desk at James Branch Cabell Library or the Service Desk at the Health Sciences Library.

Not sure what to donate? Here’s a suggestion list. Any non-perishable food is acceptable. No open containers or foods past the expiration date will be accepted. There is no limit to how many food items you can donate, although there is a $30 maximum for fines forgiven.
