May 16, 2022

VCU Libraries participated in VCU’s first Giving Day April 28. Thanks to the generosity of 175 individuals, VCU Libraries raised $46,836.

VCU Libraries selected the following four areas on which to focus: Friends of VCU Libraries; the Social Welfare History Project; Friends of VCU Libraries Scholarship; and No Cost Textbooks Initiative. Donors also could give to any area they wished.

  • The majority of the gifts were made to the Friends of VCU Libraries with 65 gifts bringing in a total of $14,881.

  • The Social Welfare History Project had 36 gifts totaling $18,010 thanks to a generous matching grant from the Hansan Family Foundation.

  • The Friends of VCU Libraries Scholarship saw gifts from 45 donors totaling $11,165, again thanks in part to a challenge grant from alumna Stephanie Holt, BS’74/E.

  • The No Cost Text Book Initiative received 22 gifts totaling $2,780.

  • In addition to these areas, gifts were received for the Staff Excellence Fund and the Miller Collection.
