"Wonder Woman" Common Book now available for checkout

June 19, 2015

VCU Libraries has long played a pivotal role in VCU’s summer reading program. For 2015-16, that program, previously focused on first-year students, is expanding into a more robust, year-round VCU Common Book program.

Organizers hope the entire academic community, as well as friends, supporters and alumni, will read the book and participate in discussions and to-be-announced programs.

Copies of The Secret History of Wonder Woman are available for checkout at our libraries. Author Jill Lepore, a Harvard historian and New Yorker staffer, is expected to visit campus for a lecture. This book blends scholarly research with a compelling story. It's an especially interesting choice for VCU, which holds one of the nation’s top comic-arts collections. VCU Libraries has provided an expanded research guide and a gallery display tied to the book's themes, which are rich for discussion and exploration.

Plans are in the early stages but look for more information on social media and on the Common Book Program website.
