In Remembrance: Memorial service set for Dr. Ed Peeples Nov. 2 at Cabell Library

October 16, 2019

A memorial service honoring Dr. Ed Peeples will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 1 p.m. at James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave.

Peeples' wishes were that if his family organized a memorial of any kind, “it be made into an occasion of good fellowship, and perhaps a time to reflect upon and make new resolves on questions of advancing the causes of beauty, knowledge and justice.”

With his wishes in mind, the celebration will honor the activist scholar's life with a three-part event. A traditional memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. It will be followed by an afternoon of sharing stories and refreshments and making a pledge to honor Peeples' legacy and continue with his work. People are invited to drop in for as much time as they wish.

The family is collecting video memories. If you’re interested in submitting a video memory, please email it to EdMemoriesVideo@gmail.com. Cell phone videos are fine, but please turn your camera sideways for a horizontal/landscape video, and please keep it to 30 seconds or less.
