Sam Byrd

As part of the Scholarly Communications and Publishing division, Sam Byrd coordinates scholarly publishing initiatives for VCU faculty and students. He is the primary contact for Scholars Compass, VCU's open access institutional repository.

Since joining the faculty at VCU in 2006, Byrd has also contributed to many efforts in the creation, presentation and preservation of digital collections.

Before coming to VCU, Byrd was Systems Librarian and Project Coordinator for the Digital Library Program at the Library of Virginia. Prior to that, he served as Head, Copy-based Cataloging at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Libraries.
