Kevin Farley

Kevin Farley advances collections–-including monographs, journals, media, and electronic databases--for all humanities disciplines and also the VCU School of the Arts Department of Music. He holds a doctorate in English with a specialization in Renaissance literature, and an M.S.L.S., both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Drawing upon this training allows him to guide the collections through the complexities of print and digital scholarship in the 21st Century.

His research interests and scholarship include the history of the book, the transformation of the humanities in a digital teaching and research environment, and the social context of literary production. He has addressed these topics at the international conference New Directions in the Humanities, as well as the Charleston Conference and the Renaissance Imprisonment Conference, and has published on the future of academic collections and the value of library digital publishing. As an advisory board member for the VCU digital humanities project, British Virginia (led by Professor Joshua Eckhardt in the Department of English), he is actively engaged with expanding scholarly access and dialogue across the world through open access initiatives.
